Even if you don't know his name, you know his work.
The Belcourt Theatre hosted the premiere of “For The Record,” which is a documentary of bass player Nathan East, who has performed on more than 2,000 albums in his life. It features Kenny Loggins, Eric Clapton, Don Was, and Phil Collins to name a few. They started the tracking in Oceanway, Los Angeles and overdubbed the orchestra in Nashville, at Oceanway Nashville. Nashville is where the Yamaha Entertainment Group headquarters and studio are located.
Nathan is probably best known for his work with Eric Clapton, with over three decades of touring. Also his Grammy-nominated jazz group Fourplay that showcases for his mastery on bass. The Clapton and Fourplay gigs alone prove his scale of musical achievements.
Andrea Bockenstedt and I at the Villager Pub still buzzing from the awesome show!
Christopher and I about to enter the Belcourt. Thanks Yamaha for the screening!
"In all this, I've learned that life is such a people endeavor," says East, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the National Association of Music Merchants' (NAMM) Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards on Jan. 24. "Between the documentary and the book, it's nice to be able to tell my story. And maybe someone will listen."
